Fundamentals of ArcGIS for Petroleum - 1 Day - $400 - TBA

This one-day course introduces students to ArcGIS 9.2 and its various interfaces.

Editing in ArcMap - 2 Days - $800 - Dec 8

This 2-day course teaches students how to add, delete, and modify data using advanced editing techniques in ArcGIS 9.2. Students learn how to clean up existing polygons and effectively draw new features.

Geoprocessing with Model Builder and Python - 2 Days - $800 - Dec 2

In this two-day course, students will be introduced to the Geoprocessing environment in ArcGIS. Regional data will be used for the course. Participants learn how to create, share, and modify models for analysis. Additionally, the command line interface to the software and python scripting is introduced. Goals include: Geoprocessing Environment, Creating a model, Modifying a model, Distributing a model, Command line interface and Python scripting. Topics covered include: Setting the Geoprocessing environment, Managing models in ArcGIS, Command line interface to ArcGIS and Python scripting introduction.

This one-day course introduces students to working with raster data and generating surfaces using the Spatial Analyst extension to ArcGIS 9.2.

This one-day course teaches students how to work with tables in ArcGIS 9.2.

This one-day course introduces students to a variety of tools in ArcToolbox, including those used in both ArcCatalog and ArcMap.

This one-day course teaches students how to create and manipulate labels and annotation, and create map layouts in ArcGIS 9.2.

This one-day course introduces students to ArcGIS 9.2 and its enhancements over ArcGIS 9.1.

Getting Started with VBA for ArcGIS - 3 Days - $1200 - TBA

Getting Started with VBA for ArcGIS is an introductory class for ESRI’s Version 9.2 software and its customization environment. The class will explore the VBA development environment and ArcGIS’s customization dialog in order to provide users with useful knowledge for developing customizations for ArcGIS. Day one will introduce users to object-oriented programming and Visual Basic for Applications, VBA. We will talk about the Component Object Model (COM), visual basic code structures, useful functions and statements. Day two will focus on ArcObjects, ESRI’s object model, on which all your customizations will be based. We will spend the day reading the object model diagrams and creating custom code in VBA for ArcGIS. Day three will give us an opportunity to apply our knowledge of COM, ArcObjects and VBA to real-world customizations. including the Visual Basic (VBA) Editor, customize dialog box, and online help resources. Upon finishing the course, participants will have plenty of sample code from which they can build their own applications.

Introduction to Programming Perl - 1 Day - $400 - TBA

Perl, being the “Practical Extraction and Reporting Language”, is the perfect language for processing text files and checking the validity of user input (processed as text strings). Perl can do a lot more than work with text files, of course, but to teach all of these topics would take a little more than 3 days! This course was designed to introduce the basic concepts of Perl, emphasizing those tools necessary for working with text strings. The course should also give the student a good foundation on which to learn the more advanced Perl topics.

Making Sense of Spatial Reference - 1 Day - $400 - Dec 8

This six hour course teaches students the essential information that they need to know about map projections and coordinate systems and what they need to know about projecting geographic data with ArcGIS 9.2.

Linear Referencing - 1 Day - $400 - TBA

This 1-day course teaches students the foundational concepts of linear referencing and their application in real world situations. Students are instructed how to create and edit routes and their measurements.

Finding and Importing GIS Data - 1 Day - $400 - TBA

This 1-day course teaches students a variety of ways to find GIS data, and how to import it into the ArcGIS environment.
